The Carolina Hurricanes are set to celebrate their sixth Whalers Night on February 27, as they face off against the Buffalo Sabres. This annual event, sponsored by Alpaca Peruvian Charcoal Chicken, revives the spirit of the Hartford Whalers with retro uniforms and the iconic "Brass Bonanza" anthem.

Since its inception, Whalers Night has become a notable occasion for fans and players alike. The Hurricanes have maintained an unbeaten record of 4-0-1 in previous events. The first Whalers Night saw the team donning green uniforms reminiscent of the late '80s Whalers, resulting in a comeback victory against Boston.

In subsequent years, goaltending performances have been pivotal. James Reimer's shutout against Los Angeles marked a highlight in the second year, while Antti Raanta's efforts secured a win over New Jersey in 2021-22. The streak was interrupted with a shootout loss to Boston in 2022-23, but returned to form last season with Pyotr Kochetkov's stellar performance against New Jersey.

The Hurricanes have occasionally worn their Whalers-inspired gear outside official nights since debuting them in December 2018. Their overall record in these uniforms stands at 5-0-3, with Sebastian Aho leading in scoring during these games.
