NC State's women's basketball team secured a decisive victory over Kent State with a final score of 79-51. The game, held in Raleigh, marked the team's 19th consecutive home win against non-conference opponents and extended their streak to 62 games for unranked non-conference matchups.
Aziaha James reached a significant career milestone during the game by joining the 1,000-point club after scoring a three-pointer just before halftime. She led the game with 20 points, while freshman Zamareya Jones contributed 16 points. All eleven players on NC State's roster scored and played at least six minutes.
The team achieved a shooting percentage of 49% from the field and maintained a positive assist-to-turnover ratio. They also dominated the rebounds with a count of 44-33 over Kent State.
NC State took control early in the game, starting with a seven-point run initiated by James' three-pointer. Although Kent State managed to tie the score briefly in the first quarter, NC State regained and maintained their lead throughout.
In the second quarter, Laci Steele added crucial points with her layup and floater. Despite Kent State's efforts to close the gap with their eighth three-pointer before halftime, NC State led by five points going into the break.
James continued her strong performance after halftime, sparking another run that widened NC State's lead. By the end of the third quarter, they were ahead by ten points.
The fourth quarter saw NC State dominate further with a 14-0 run. Jones scored most of her points in this period, helping secure their substantial victory margin.
The Pack will next face TCU on November 17th at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Their subsequent home game is scheduled for November 21st against Coastal Carolina at Reynolds Coliseum.
