Carolina Hurricanes recall Ty Smith from AHL's Chicago Wolves

Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced that defenseman Ty Smith has been recalled from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). Smith, who is 24 years old, has not played in an NHL game this season. During his time with the Wolves, he recorded three assists and a plus-2 rating over four games.

Smith hails from Lloydminster, Alberta. Last season, he played for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and accumulated 43 points through nine goals and 34 assists in 63 games. Originally drafted by New Jersey in the first round as the 17th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, Smith has participated in 123 career NHL games with both New Jersey and Pittsburgh. Over these appearances, he earned a total of 47 points with eight goals and 39 assists and accrued 48 penalty minutes.
