On March 5, 2025, Congresswoman Ross criticized the impact of former President Trump's decisions on federal employees in North Carolina. She stated that "Federal employees in NC - including the people that support our seniors and provide care to our veterans - are vital to our state. Trump's mass firings have been bad for North Carolinians and bad for our country."

In another tweet posted on the same day, she addressed the issue of tariffs. Ross argued that "Tariffs are bad for businesses, consumers, and producers. They will increase prices on products that Americans rely on. Tariffs will only hurt our economy and our relationships with our allies."

Later that evening, Ross expressed concern over a speech by President Trump outlining his vision for America's future. The plans he described will jeopardize the lives and livelihoods of millions of Americans – from increasing already sky-high prices to stripping healthcare away from our friends and neighbors who…"
