Wake County is set to unveil its latest recreational area, Beech Bluff County Park, with a public event this Saturday. The park, located at 3321 NC Highway 42 in Willow Spring, will host the inaugural Beech Bluff Bash on March 15.

Susan Evans, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, emphasized the significance of the new park: “This park represents a major milestone in our commitment to expanding access to outdoor recreation and preserving open space in Wake County. We’re excited for the community to explore and experience this beautiful park.”

The event will commence with an opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m. at the Sage Shelter, situated near the Park Center. Attendees can expect speeches from special guests and receive commemorative giveaways.

Following the ceremony, visitors are encouraged to explore various activities within the park. Options include dining at food trucks, participating in guided hikes (with prior registration), visiting exhibitors, enjoying live music performances, and observing agricultural demonstrations. While Beech Bluff Bash concludes at 3 p.m., the park itself will remain accessible until 7 p.m.

Beech Bluff County Park spans 300 acres and was developed with significant community input to address local recreational needs while preserving natural resources. It incorporates public art installations and utilizes renewable energy sources like solar panels and geothermal systems—a first for any county project combining these elements.

Funding for Beech Bluff County Park came from a $120 million bond dedicated to parks, greenways, recreation, and open spaces in Wake County. This bond received approval from 68% of voters in 2018.
