Wake County Public Libraries has announced a bookmark-designing contest as part of its 2025 Summer Reading Program. The contest, which runs throughout March, invites participants to submit original bookmark designs under the theme "Color Our World." Winning designs will be printed and distributed across all 23 Wake County libraries during the summer.

Susan Evans, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative: “Summer is always an exciting time of year at our libraries, and this contest is a great way to get even more people involved. We hope this inspires people of all ages to express their creativity and share their love of reading with the community.”

The contest is open to individuals in four age categories: 3–6, 7–12, 13–17, and 18 and older. Winners from each category will receive 20 printed copies of their design, a poster featuring their artwork, and recognition at a celebratory reception.

Interested participants can pick up entry forms at local libraries and must submit their designs in person. Additional information is available at wake.gov/Summer-Reading or by visiting any library in Wake County.
