The Carolina Hurricanes faced a challenging game against the Seattle Kraken at Lenovo Center, resulting in a 4-2 defeat. Despite twice leveling the score, late goals by Seattle secured their victory.
The match began with Seattle scoring just 19 seconds in. Eric Robinson equalized for the Hurricanes at 3:56 after Martin Necas capitalized on a turnover. The second period saw Seattle regain the lead, leaving Carolina trailing by one going into the third.
In the final frame, Necas scored on a power play assisted by Sebastian Aho, tying the game once more. However, a goal from Jack Drury was disallowed due to goaltender interference following a challenge by Seattle. Shortly after, Seattle regained and then extended their lead with an insurance goal at 15:03.
Returning goalie Pyotr Kochetkov made 24 saves out of 28 shots but experienced his third loss of the season.
Reflecting on recent performances, coach Rod Brind'Amour commented, "First of all, they played a good game. You have to give them credit; let's not take that away from them. But we stunk."
Martin Necas also shared his thoughts: "Our overall game wasn't good... We didn't get on the forecheck; it wasn't good enough."
Necas expressed determination to improve: "It starts with ourselves, looking in the mirror... We've got to get to our game and dig in."
Carolina will practice Wednesday before facing Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.
