NC State women's basketball team began their season with a strong performance, defeating ETSU 80-55. The game marked the unveiling of the 2024 NCAA Final Four banner in front of an audience of 4,291. All available players participated, with four scoring in double digits. Zoe Brooks led the team with a career-high 21 points.

Saniya Rivers opened the scoring for NC State with a three-pointer, initiating a 6-0 run. Mallory Collier contributed key baskets to give NC State a narrow lead at the end of the first quarter.

ETSU took charge briefly in the second quarter with a 10-0 run but NC State responded strongly. A layup by Collier ended their drought and initiated a 15-6 run that included forcing four turnovers in under three minutes. This effort allowed NC State to enter halftime leading by three points.

The second half saw NC State start with another impressive run, highlighted by Rivers' efforts and Madison Hayes extending their lead further. Although ETSU narrowed the gap towards the end of the third quarter, Aziaha James restored a comfortable lead for NC State before entering the final period.

In the fourth quarter, NC State dominated, outscoring ETSU significantly and ending on a high note with Lorena Awou contributing five points in her debut game. The team excelled offensively and defensively during this period.

Overall, NC State scored 51 points in the second half while reducing turnovers compared to earlier in the game. Brooks and James were instrumental during this phase, adding significant contributions to secure victory for their team.

Looking ahead, NC State will face South Carolina on November 10th as part of Ally Tipoff before returning home to play against Kent State on November 14th.
