RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's soccer freshman defender Janet Okeke has been selected as one of 21 players named to the Canadian Women's Soccer Under-20 Team for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, according to an announcement by the federation on Monday afternoon.
The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will commence on August 31 in Colombia. Canada is grouped with France, Brazil, and Fiji in Group B. The team will open group play against France on August 31 in Medellin.
Okeke, a freshman from Laval, Quebec, participated in Canada's U-20 team camp held in Verl, Germany, in April. The camp featured two international matches against the United States and Germany. So far this season, Okeke has started in both of NC State's matches, recording two shots on goal over 136 minutes played.
NC State will next travel to Campbell for its first road match of the 2024 season. Thursday's match is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on FloSports.
