RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State freshman relief pitcher Jacob Dudan has been named a Freshman All-American by both D1Baseball and Baseball America, as announced by the publications over the past week.
Dudan, who also earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors, led the Wolfpack with 27 pitching appearances, all from the bullpen. His six saves ranked second on the team, and he did not allow an earned run in his first eight collegiate appearances.
Dudan concluded his freshman season with a 4-2 record, a 4.50 ERA, and 56 strikeouts over 48 innings pitched. He led a talented group of Wolfpack freshman pitchers with his strikeout tally.
The freshman's impressive year extended into the postseason when he was named to the NCAA All-Raleigh Regional Team after leading the Pack with 10 strikeouts in the NCAA Raleigh Regional. He recorded a save and posted a 1.80 ERA over five innings pitched during this period. His four total pitching appearances in the NCAA Tournament tied for the team lead as he amassed 13 strikeouts and limited opposing batters to a .207 batting average against him.
Dudan also secured the win in the decisive NCAA Super Regional game against seventh-seeded Georgia on June 10 by escaping a bases-loaded jam and pitching 1.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts.
Additionally, Dudan was named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Summer League Tour roster following his freshman season.
