CANBERRA, Australia – Wolfpack swimming freshmen Erika Pelaez and Leah Shackley excelled at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Championships held in Canberra, Australia.
The pair of incoming freshmen combined to record four first-place finishes while representing Team USA. Pelaez and Shackley were two of just 38 swimmers who competed for the Stars and Stripes after being selected to the roster based on results from June U.S. Olympic Trials.
Pelaez enters her freshman season at NC State as the No. 1 female swimmer in the state of Florida, according to SwimCloud. She is also one of six to be ranked No. 1 in the country. Shackley ranks as the No. 1 female swimmer out of Pennsylvania and No. 16 nationally.
