NC State baseball trio invited to USA Baseball collegiate national team training camp

NC State baseball underclassmen Cooper Consiglio, Jacob Dudan, and Derrick Smith have been invited to the 2024 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp.

The Wolfpack trio are among 56 premier non-draft eligible college players invited to this summer's National Team Training Camp. The camp will feature a two-game Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series at the National Training Complex in Cary from June 26-27, with both games starting at 6 p.m. The 28-man rosters for the 2024 Collegiate National Team International Friendship Series and Summer League Tour will be named on June 29 following the conclusion of training camp.

Consiglio, a freshman southpaw from Palm Harbor, Florida, made 15 appearances with five starts in his first season with NC State. He posted a 5-4 record with 38 strikeouts over 41.2 innings pitched, ranking first among Wolfpack freshman pitchers with five pitching victories.

Consiglio excelled in his final three regular season outings, achieving a 3-0 record against No. 7 Florida State, No.10 Virginia, and No.8 Wake Forest. Over these games, he pitched 12.1 innings while allowing only two runs (one earned), striking out 15 batters and permitting just four hits and four walks.

Dudan, an ACC All-Freshman Team honoree, led the team with 27 pitching appearances and held a record of 4-2 with 56 strikeouts over 48 innings pitched. His six saves ranked second on the team and he limited opposing batters to a .218 average against him.

In the NCAA Tournament, Dudan made four appearances totaling seven innings with one save and recorded thirteen strikeouts.

Smith emerged as NC State’s closer in his sophomore year. He led the team with eight saves, including three during the NCAA Tournament where he maintained a 2.45 ERA over seven innings pitched while limiting opposing batters to a .130 average against him.

Smith finished his sophomore campaign with a record of 3-2 and struck out forty-one batters over twenty-nine innings across twenty-four appearances.

Jacob Cozart and Dominic Fritton represented NC State at last summer's National Team Training Camp.
