NC State third baseman Alec Makarewicz has been named a 2024 ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-American, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Friday morning.

Makarewicz has also earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region First Team honors, NCBWA Third Team All-America accolades, and ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-America honors within one week. This week, he and teammate Jacob Cozart became NC State baseball's 46th and 47th student-athletes, respectively, to be recognized as All-Americans.

Makarewicz, who has already been named Second Team All-ACC and was the NCAA Raleigh Regional's Most Outstanding Player, adds yet another accolade to a standout season for the Wolfpack. The third baseman leads NC State with a .380 batting average, 80 RBI, 22 homers, 95 hits, and a .744 slugging percentage.

The Longwood, Florida native is leading NC State with a .414 batting average in the NCAA Tournament so far. He is pacing the team with 12 hits, five doubles, and 26 total bases. Makarewicz batted .400 (6-for-15) with two homers and four RBI to help lead NC State back to Omaha for the fourth time in program history and the third time since 2013.

Makarewicz's 22 homers now rank tied for sixth in NC State single-season history. His 80 RBI are tied for second in Wolfpack single-season history; he needs just seven more to tie Turtle Zaun for the program record. The Wolfpack third baseman is also tied with Tony Ellison for the single-season program record for total bases (186), needing just one more base hit to set a new record.
