As part of February’s First Friday, the City of Raleigh Museum will be showcasing Rachel Johanningsmeier’s artwork in "Raleigh's Living Room: Rest, Reflect, and Respond".
This exhibit's goal is to focus on art therapy and the need for self-care during these stressful times. Each quarter, the exhibit will feature a new prompt that asks visitors to reflect on a certain aspect of their lives and then draw a response on the dry-erase wall.
This quarter’s artist, Rachel Johanningsmeier, recreates the female body in her work, telling visual stories of its strength, fluidity and spirit. Her childhood experience as a gymnast inspires her figurative work and its focus on movement, energy and expression. These elements collide with her interest in psychology to generate artwork that celebrates how remarkably human we are. Rachel will be completing a live drawing from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. during First Friday.
Date: Friday, February 3
Time: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Ages: All
Cost: Free
