Governor Josh Stein has announced that March 2025 will be recognized as Students@Work℠ Month in North Carolina. This initiative will see over 25,000 students engaging with local businesses to gain insights into various job sectors within their communities.

"Our students are our future: the future of our workforce and the future of our state," said Governor Josh Stein. "I am pleased to honor Students@Work℠ for their 15 years of efforts to connect schools to employers and help students discover their talents and passions."

The program offers students exposure to careers in fields such as clean energy, healthcare, hospitality, finance, skilled trades, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, technology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, education, construction, public service, among others.

Throughout March, both virtual and in-person career awareness activities will be available for middle school students across North Carolina. Businesses collaborating with educators include Enbridge Gas, State Employees’ Credit Union, Mission Health, Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, UNC Adams School of Dentistry, Duke Energy, and SteelFab.

The North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE) along with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction are key partners in this program which is marking its 15th year. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is also involved.

Students@Work operates through the Navigator platform—a free online tool that links classroom learning with career pathways by connecting business leaders with educational and workforce development communities.

Since its inception in 1983 under the Office of the Governor's purview as a business-led non-profit organization (501-c3), NCBCE has been instrumental in bridging connections between business leaders and educational decision-makers in North Carolina.
