The Fuquay-Varina Fire Department participated in Smoke Alarm Saturday this past weekend on June 4th.
Fire Department personnel inspected 36 homes and installed 82 smoke detectors for residents throughout the district. Smoke Alarm Saturday is a one-day, statewide, smoke alarm canvassing event to bring awareness of the need to have working smoke alarms in homes. Fire departments across North Carolina, in partnership with the NC Office of State Fire Marshal, come together on the first Saturday in June, to help educate their communities on how to be as safe as possible in a home fire.
Homeowners whose smoke alarms are not functioning or are past their life span, or who have no alarms in their homes, are encouraged to contact the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department at (919) 552-0422.
