The Carolina Hurricanes will commence a series of games on the road, starting with a clash against the Detroit Red Wings. The game is set for Friday, April 4, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game on the FanDuel Sports Network South and their app or listen on 99.9 The Fan and the Hurricanes App. The odds from Fanatics Sportsbook list the Hurricanes at -200.

The Hurricanes have secured a playoff spot for the seventh consecutive year following their decisive 5-1 victory over the Washington Capitals. Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour leads the team as the only active coach to reach the playoffs in each of his first seven seasons. This achievement ties the franchise's record for the longest consecutive playoff run.

In the previous encounter against the Capitals, Jackson Blake scored multiple goals for the first time in his NHL career, while Seth Jarvis added to his tally, joining the 30-goal club for the second year running. The Hurricanes' power play was effective, scoring three times, and tensions between the two teams led to 142 penalty minutes in the third period.

Pyotr Kochetkov is expected in net against Detroit, looking to build on his recent win against the Islanders. Kochetkov had previously achieved a shutout against the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena in December 2022.

The Detroit Red Wings remain outside the playoff positions but maintain some hope with eight games left. Under Coach Todd McLellan, the team struggled through recent matches, holding a 4-10-1 record. The penalty kill has been a significant concern, ranking last. However, Patrick Kane has shown consistency, gaining 17 points over 15 games.

Injury updates for the Hurricanes detail Andrei Svechnikov's absence due to a minor injury, Jordan Staal's ongoing recovery from a lower-body issue, William Carrier's long-term injury, and the exclusion of Jesper Fast for the rest of the season.

Round 1 playoff tickets for the Hurricanes will be available for purchase by the public starting April 10 at noon ET. Fans can also sign up for alerts on ticket sales and other team news.

After the game against Detroit, the Hurricanes will travel to Boston for a back-to-back series against the Bruins scheduled for Saturday.
