Carolina Hurricanes prospect Justin Robidas is set to make his NHL debut against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Friday. With players Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov dealing with injuries, Robidas has been called up. In his second year as a professional, Robidas ranks third in scoring for the Chicago Wolves with 48 points in 65 games.
Rod Brind'Amour, after the morning skate, commented on Robidas' promotion, "I know he's a great kid and he's kind of earned the call-up, you know. He's had a good year and did everything that they asked him to do [in Chicago]."
Brind'Amour provided an update on Svechnikov's injury, indicating a cautious approach, with more information expected early next week.
Alongside Robidas, Scott Morrow is set to return to the lineup for the first time since March 22, serving as another rising talent. Dmitry Orlov was positioned as the extra during the morning skate session.
In goal, Pyotr Kochetkov will continue his rotation, holding a record of 2-0 against the Red Wings, including a previous 27-save shutout win in Detroit during the 2022-23 season.
Several players are dealing with injuries, including William Carrier, who is out with a lower-body injury, and Jesper Fast, out for the 2024-25 season with a neck injury. Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov remain sidelined with no set return times.
The Canes' projected lineup includes forwards Jarvis, Aho, and Blake; Hall, Roslovic, and Robinson; Martinook, Kotkaniemi, and Stankoven; and Jost, Jankowski, and Robidas. The defensive lineup includes Slavin with Burns, Walker with Chatfield, and Gostisbehere with Morrow. Kochetkov will start as the goaltender, with Andersen as backup.
For tonight's game, Fanatics Sportsbook provides the odds with the Canes at -200.
