The Carolina Hurricanes secured a 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, thanks to Taylor Hall's hat trick in the third period. Frederik Andersen played a key role by saving 32 of 34 shots. The game took place in Anaheim, California.

Hall's first goal came on a power play at 2:32 of the third period, extending the Hurricanes' lead to 3-1. He later scored again after Anaheim narrowed the gap, restoring his team's two-goal advantage with help from Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Hall completed his sixth career hat trick with an empty-net goal in the final minutes.

Mark Jankowski opened the scoring for Carolina with a deflection off Tyson Jost's setup during the second period. Jordan Martinook added another goal before entering the third period, reacting quickly to a rebound off Shayne Gostisbehere's shot.

Andersen achieved his fifth consecutive win and his second performance this season with over 30 saves. The Hurricanes excelled defensively, successfully killing all six penalties against them and setting a new single-game season high.

Hall has been productive since joining Carolina, recording 13 points in 20 games and nine points in his last eight games. Mark Jankowski continues to perform well post-trade deadline, nearing the league lead in goals.

Brent Burns assisted on Jankowski's goal, marking his 15th season with at least 20 assists. Shayne Gostisbehere and Jordan Staal returned to play after missing previous games due to illness and injury respectively.

Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour praised Andersen's goaltending as "pretty darn special" and highlighted Hall's impactful performance as "dynamite." Hall expressed growing comfort with his teammates after two months with the team. Andersen emphasized mental resilience following their previous loss in Los Angeles.

The Hurricanes will face Nashville next at Lenovo Center in Raleigh on Tuesday night.
