The Wake County Animal Center is launching an adoption campaign in celebration of St. Patrick's Day, offering reduced fees for pet adoptions from March 14 to March 23. During this period, dogs and puppies can be adopted for free, while cats and kittens are available for just $5.

Wake County Commissioner Vickie Adamson expressed enthusiasm about the initiative: “These dogs are hoping for their lucky break this festive holiday, and every kitten deserves a loving home where they can thrive.” She encourages potential adopters to visit the center to find their "perfect match" and "treasure."

Currently, there are 97 dogs and nine cats available at the shelter, along with 42 dogs and 15 cats in foster care awaiting adoption. The center emphasizes that adopting pets helps alleviate overcrowding issues at the facility while providing animals with new homes.

Adopted pets from the Wake County Animal Center come spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Regular adoption fees are usually $95 for dogs, $45 for younger cats, and $15 for older cats.

The center invites prospective pet owners to view their adoption gallery online or visit in person between noon and 6 p.m., seven days a week. The facility is located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh.
