Seth Jarvis played a pivotal role in the Carolina Hurricanes' 3-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, scoring twice to help his team secure the win. The game took place in Raleigh, N.C., where both teams showcased their skills.
The Golden Knights began aggressively, outshooting the Hurricanes 13 to 7 in the first period. However, Pyotr Kochetkov's performance as goaltender kept the score tied at zero by the end of the first period.
Vegas managed to score first early in the second period. Still, Carolina quickly responded with Jarvis' goal seven minutes later. His tap-in goal was set up by Jordan Martinook and marked his 14th of the season.
In the third period, Jackson Blake scored just 46 seconds in after his pass deflected off an opponent's stick into the net. Jarvis extended Carolina's lead with another goal five minutes later during a play assisted by Jordan Staal.
Although Shea Theodore scored for Vegas on a power-play to narrow Carolina's lead, Kochetkov made crucial saves to secure his team's victory. He ended with 29 saves on 31 shots.
Jarvis' two-goal performance marked his second multi-goal game of this season and moved him into a tie for third place among team scorers with 15 goals. Only Jack Roslovic and Martin Necas have more goals this season for Carolina.
Jackson Blake's contribution was also notable as he matched Jarvis' record for being one of the fastest rookies in team history to reach ten NHL goals since relocation.
Afterwards, Jackson Blake commented on facing Vegas: "We knew they'd have a push at the start... To come out on top means a lot for us."
Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour praised Kochetkov: "He kept us in it... He made a couple of huge saves... He was definitely solid."
Seth Jarvis expressed appreciation for teammates Jordan Martinook and Jordan Staal: "They play unbelievable defense... creating space for me is everything I could ask for."
Carolina will practice Sunday before traveling to Chicago for their next game on Monday night.
