The Carolina Hurricanes are set to face the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, January 21, following an overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks. The game will start at 8:00 p.m. ET and can be watched on ESPN+ and Hulu or listened to on 99.9 The Fan and the Hurricanes App.

The Hurricanes hold a record of 28-16-3, placing them second in the Metropolitan Division with 59 points. Their recent victory was marked by Sebastian Aho's fourth overtime winner of the season, contributing to their comeback win over Chicago. Jordan Staal celebrated his 1,300th NHL game with a goal that marked his 700th career point. Frederik Andersen made a successful return from knee surgery, marking his 500th career game.

In their previous encounter with Dallas this season, the Hurricanes managed a significant comeback victory. Currently, they have tied Vegas and Washington for the most come-from-behind wins in the NHL this season.

Rod Brind'Amour will reach a milestone as he coaches his 500th game for the Hurricanes. He has led the team to a record of 306-146-47 since taking over as head coach.

Despite their successes, there are areas for improvement for Carolina. They have struggled to score first in games and have had limited success with their power play since Thanksgiving.

On defense, both teams boast strong penalty-killing records. The Hurricanes' penalty kill ranks best in the Eastern Conference at 84.9%, while Dallas leads in the Western Conference at 85.5%.

Pyotr Kochetkov is expected to start as goaltender for Carolina after Andersen's performance against Chicago. On Dallas' side, Jake Oettinger is notable for his strong performance this season.

Dallas enters Tuesday's game with seven wins out of ten games played in January and ranks fifth in points percentage league-wide. Matt Duchene leads Dallas in scoring with Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston following closely behind.

Jordan Staal is recognized for reaching his 1,300th NHL game milestone tonight.

Injury updates include William Carrier seeking further evaluation on a lower-body injury and Tyson Jost practicing but not ready to return after suffering an injury labeled "long-term." Jesper Fast remains out for the entire season.

Following Tuesday's game against Dallas, Carolina will return home before facing Columbus on Thursday night.
