The North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) has expressed support for a motion by Judge Jefferson Griffin seeking the disqualification of N.C. State Board of Elections member Siobhan Millen from participating in election protests concerning the 2024 Associate Justice race for the North Carolina Supreme Court. The motion raises concerns about a potential conflict of interest, given Ms. Millen's marriage to Pressley Millen, who is a partner at Womble Bond Dickinson, the firm representing Justice Allison Riggs in these disputes.

"This motion is about ensuring integrity and impartiality in the election process," stated Matt Mercer, NCGOP Communications Director. "The facts demonstrate a clear conflict of interest that undermines public confidence in the impartiality of the State Board."

According to the motion, several issues are highlighted:

- Pressley Millen’s leadership role in Justice Riggs’ legal team creates both familial and financial connections that could compromise Ms. Millen's objectivity.

- The Millen household may benefit financially due to Mr. Millen’s partnership at Womble Bond Dickinson.

- State law and judicial ethics mandate Ms. Millen's recusal to maintain due process and uphold public trust in the electoral process.
