NC State's wrestling team secured a victory against Utah Valley, improving their season record to 5-0. The sixth-ranked Wolfpack won six out of ten bouts at home on Saturday night, ending the match with a score of 23-16.
The match began with NC State's Vince Robinson earning the first points in the 125-pound category, defeating Bridger Ricks with a 5-2 decision. Robinson maintains an undefeated streak this season, holding an 11-0 record.
Jakob Camacho returned to compete at 133 pounds but had to default due to injury, giving Utah Valley an early lead. In the subsequent matchup at 141 pounds, Kai Orine faced Haiden Drury. Despite a strong start, Orine lost his match 0-5 after Drury managed to secure crucial points in the final period.
Koy Buesgens brought momentum back to NC State by winning his bout in the 149-pound class with a major decision of 12-3. Ed Scott followed suit in the 157-pound category with another major decision victory for NC State.
At 165 pounds, Derek Fields was defeated by Terrell Barraclaugh from Utah Valley. However, Matty Singleton and Dylan Fishback both claimed victories for NC State in their respective weight classes of 174 and 184 pounds.
In the last two bouts, Chase Horne lost his debut match at 197 pounds while Isaac Trumble concluded the night with a technical fall over Jack Forbes at heavyweight, sealing NC State's win.
Next on their schedule is a trip to Las Vegas for the Cliff Keen Invitational where they will face top wrestlers from across the country.
