The Panthers took an early lead, starting with a 5-2 advantage. Although NC State managed to tie the first set at 13-all, Pitt maintained control and won the set 25-18. The Wolfpack committed six attacking errors during this frame.
In the second set, NC State struggled to gain momentum and fell behind by as much as ten points. Head coach Luka Slabe utilized both timeouts early in an attempt to regroup his team. Despite these efforts, Pitt extended their lead to 13 points and secured the set with a score of 25-12. Notably, Pitt recorded six service errors during this set.
NC State kept the third set competitive initially, preventing Pitt from leading by more than one point and tying the frame several times. However, a 4-0 scoring run allowed Pitt to pull ahead 10-7, prompting an early timeout from NC State. The Panthers maintained their dominance and concluded the match with a 25-17 victory after another scoring run.
Key performers for NC State included Amanda Rice with seven kills, Skye Stokes with eleven digs, Naomi Cabello with sixteen assists, Jada Allen contributing two blocks, and aces from Courtney Bryant, Jada Allen, and Amanda Rice.
