NC State's wrestling team secured two victories on Sunday, including a notable win against 17th-ranked Rutgers. The Wolfpack's performance in New Jersey marked their first ranked team victory of the 2024-25 season, along with six individual wins in the dual matches.
The day began with NC State facing Princeton for the first time since 2022. They emerged victorious, leading the series between the two teams 3-2. Points were conceded only at 149 and 197 pounds, where Koy Buesgens and Andrew Macchiavello faced tough bouts against ranked opponents. Isaac Trumble concluded the dual with a decisive fall over Princeton's heavyweight.
In their subsequent match against Rutgers, Vince Robinson maintained his starting position at 125 pounds. He led 11-4 over sixth-ranked Dean Peterson when an injury default occurred following a head collision.
Throughout all ten bouts, NC State held onto their lead against Rutgers. In the 141 weight class, Kai Orine's match involved multiple reviews by referees to confirm decisions. Matty Singleton made an impact by defeating Jackson Turley with a last-minute three-point takedown.
Isaac Trumble once again clinched victory for NC State by defeating Yaraslau Slavikouski through an escape and earning a riding time point.
Looking ahead, NC State will host Utah Valley on Saturday, November 23rd at Reynolds Coliseum. This event will see former associate head coach Adam Hall return as leader of the Wolverines.
