The Carolina Hurricanes secured a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday during Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, N.C. Martin Necas and Eric Robinson led the team to their second consecutive win.
St. Louis initially took a 1-0 lead, but Andrei Svechnikov tied the game with a power-play goal in the final minute of the first period. Necas assisted Svechnikov's goal, extending his point streak to 13 games.
Eric Robinson scored early in the second period, giving Carolina the lead. He later assisted Necas for another goal, doubling their advantage. In the third period, Necas scored again with assistance from Robinson and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
Goalie Pyotr Kochetkov returned after an injury and made 29 saves, achieving his ninth win in 11 starts this season.
Necas recorded his second four-point game of the season and now has points in 13 straight games. His performance ranks him third in average points per game in the NHL at this time. He is also nearing franchise history for point streaks and became the fastest player to reach 30 points in franchise history.
Robinson continued his strong performance with his second multi-point game of the year. Svechnikov also contributed significantly with consistent scoring throughout the season.
Carolina has won seven consecutive home games since losing their opener against Tampa Bay on October 11.
Robinson commented on overcoming a slow start: "It's a back-to-back... maybe a little sluggish... but you got to find ways to win in this league."
Necas spoke about maintaining momentum: "Obviously when things are going your way... We're outplaying teams at five-on-five and that's huge."
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour expressed satisfaction with their current standing: "It was clear... we were going to fall off... I like our group."
The Hurricanes will rest Monday before practicing and traveling to Philadelphia on Tuesday for their next game against Philadelphia on November 20th at 7:30 p.m., followed by a home game against Dallas on November 25th at 7:00 p.m.
