NC State secured a victory over Coastal Carolina with a score of 82-70 on Wednesday night at the Lenovo Center. This marks the second consecutive game where NC State maintained a lead throughout.
Jayden Taylor led the team, scoring 22 points. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and freshman Trey Parker contributed 13 points each, while Dontrez Styles added 10 points. It was Parker's first double-digit performance in his career and Styles' first in an NC State uniform. So far this season, eight different players from NC State have scored in double figures.
Despite not making any three-pointers, NC State successfully made 28 out of their 35 free throw attempts. At halftime, the team's lead was narrow at 35-33, but they quickly expanded it by scoring the first ten points of the second half within just one minute and thirty-six seconds. Coastal Carolina could not close the gap to less than seven points for the remainder of the game.
The largest lead for NC State was at 17 points following a jumper by Styles with just over three minutes left to play.
Ismaël Diouf made his debut for NC State during the second half, contributing two points, three rebounds, and one assist in eight minutes on court.
For Coastal Carolina, Rasheed Jones stood out as he made five out of seven three-point attempts and scored a total of 17 points. Jordan Battle and Denzel Hines also played well for their team with each scoring 14 points.
NC State capitalized on Coastal Carolina's errors by forcing them into committing 19 turnovers which resulted in an additional 17 points for NC State.
Looking ahead, NC State will face Colgate on Monday night at home in Lenovo Center. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m., broadcasted live on ACC Network.
