The North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) has expressed its approval of the N.C. State Board of Elections' (NCSBE) decision to reconsider its initial guidance on the Disaster Recovery Act. The party noted that the original interpretation did not align with the General Assembly's intent.

The Disaster Recovery Act was unanimously passed by both chambers of the General Assembly and signed into law as a measure to aid in rebuilding efforts in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.

"The State Board has reversed course on this matter, this is good news for the voters of Western North Carolina. Given the track record of the State Board of Elections we will continue to closely monitor their actions and activities throughout the administration of elections," stated NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons.
