On August 16, 2023, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) highlighted the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act and the historic investments already made in North Carolina through this once-in-a-generation law. Health care and clean energy provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act, along with other laws passed by Democrats during President Biden’s first two years in office, have lowered costs, created jobs, and helped to combat climate change in North Carolina.
Thanks to these new laws:
- 55,000 people who signed up for an Affordable Care Act marketplace plan in NC-02 are saving an average of $830 on their health insurance.
- About 3,600 Medicare beneficiaries in NC-02 are saving an average of $430 each year on their insulin.
- 33,200 jobs have been created in NC-02 and unemployment in North Carolina has fallen from 5.6% to 3.3% since President Biden took office.
- 4,145 new clean energy jobs have been created and $9,613,125,233 in investments have been generated in North Carolina.
- 23,000 households in NC-02 are saving a combined $8,280,000 on broadband internet.
The Inflation Reduction Act also included Congresswoman Ross’ provision to overturn the previous administration’s 10-year moratorium on offshore wind leasing off the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
