The Rolesville Rural Fire Department, Wake County, The Town of Rolesville and the local fire services community are mourning the loss of Rolesville Rural Fire Department Chief Rodney Privette, who died this morning in his home.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rolesville Rural Fire Department, Rolesville residents and the entire fire services community,” said Darrell Alford, director of Wake County Fire Services. “Chief Privette was a beloved member of our fire services family, and he will be greatly missed.”
Privette, 67, was a well-known and admired member of the community, having served as fire chief since 1992 and volunteering with the department since 1975. In addition to his commitment to fire services, Privette ran the family business, Privette Insurance Agency, and served on the board of directors of Wake Electric and Wake Forest Federal Savings and Loan.
He was also known for his love of old cars, which was highlighted in a 2020 article by Carolina Country and an episode of the “Tar Heel Traveler” with Scott Mason. Over the years, and with the help of friends and other gearheads, Privette bought and restored countless vehicles made in the 1960s and 1970s, according to the article.
“This is a huge loss for everyone who knew Chief Privette,” said Assistant Chief Donnie Lawrence “His commitment to the community was second to none, and he dedicated his life to serving the Town of Rolesville and beyond.”
Arrangements are not complete at this time.
