November is ADOPT A SENIOR MONTH!

Dog

Wake County recently issued the following announcement.

Did you know that we have senior dogs and cats looking for homes? They're just as loyal and loving as a younger pet. Older pets are often overlooked in shelters – these dogs and cats make wonderful pets and are looking for wonderful, loving homes to take them in!

For "Adopt a Senior Pet Month," the Friends of Wake County Animal Center is also Promoting a Local Heartworm Treatment Program. To help adopters consider a dog who may be heartworm positive, Friends of Wake County Animal Center initiated the Heal A Heart program. Through the program, Friends of Wake County Animal Center offers $350 for each sponsored dog, to be paid directly to the veterinary practice that is treating the animal. The sponsored animals are identified with large hearts on their kennels which show they are part of the program.
