Today, Governor Josh Stein issued a statement in response to the General Fund Revenue Forecast released by the Office of State Budget and Management.
In his statement, Governor Stein acknowledged the positive nature of this year's revenue forecast but cautioned about potential challenges ahead. He stated, “While today’s consensus revenue forecast for this year is positive, North Carolina is approaching a fiscal cliff that threatens our ability to invest in rebuilding western North Carolina, strong public schools, people’s health, infrastructure, and other services we need to make North Carolina safer and stronger."
Governor Stein emphasized the incongruity between the state's growing economy and population with its financial outlook. He expressed his commitment to collaborating with the legislature to find solutions that will support continued investment in North Carolina's future.
