Governor Josh Stein has announced that Cold-Link Logistics, a cold storage management firm, will create 123 new jobs in Robeson County. The company plans to invest $85.5 million to construct a cold storage warehouse in Lumberton.
“North Carolina is consistently ranked as a top state to do business thanks to our skilled workforce, robust transportation infrastructure, and friendly business climate,” stated Governor Stein. “We are proud to welcome Cold-Link Logistics to our state and to partner with them to bring more jobs to Robeson County.”
Cold-Link Logistics, a subsidiary of the Mandich Group, specializes in third-party logistics for cold storage. Headquartered in Florida, it offers services such as product handling, storage, order picking and load preparation, blast freezing, and other logistics services. The new facility in Lumberton will be a 233,000-square-foot temperature-controlled building serving local poultry businesses and various food companies.
Michael Mandich, Managing Partner of Cold-Link Logistics said: “We are excited to expand our footprint into the great State of North Carolina. We have listened to our customers and their need for additional cold storage warehousing in the Southeast regions surrounding Lumberton.”
N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley commented on the development: “North Carolina’s supply chain for food and agriculture has always been an economic driver for our state.”
The positions at Cold-Link will include managers, supervisors, warehouse staff, and shipping personnel with an average annual salary of $50,128—exceeding the county's average wage.
A grant of $375,000 from the One North Carolina Fund has been awarded to support this project. This fund assists local governments in attracting economic investments by providing financial aid contingent upon job creation targets being met.
Senator Danny Earl Britt Jr., noted: “This is fantastic news for region and the entire state.” Representative Jarrod Lowery added: “Cold-Link’s decision...is yet another symbol of the strong collaboration to grow our state’s economy.”
Key partners include several North Carolina governmental bodies alongside local organizations such as Electricities and Robeson County Committee of 100.
