NC State's wrestling team, currently ranked sixth, will compete against 12th-ranked Cornell in their final match of 2024. The event is scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. in Bartels Hall, Ithaca, New York, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The probable lineups include several key matchups. Louie Gill will face Marcello Milani at 125 lbs, while the 157 lbs bout features #10 Ed Scott against either #2 Meyer Shapiro or Nate Wade. At 165 lbs, Luke Ahrberg or #32 Derek Fields will compete against #5 Julian Ramirez. The heavyweight class will see #4 Isaac Trumble take on either #32 Ashton Davis or Aiden Compton.
A victory on Sunday would mark the program's 787th win and head coach Popolizio's 252nd career win, with his record at NC State standing at 170-32.
This matchup marks the sixth meeting between NC State and Cornell. Cornell leads the series with three wins from previous encounters in 1992, 1996, and 2015. Under Coach Popolizio's leadership, NC State has secured two victories against Cornell since his tenure began.
