The NC State women's basketball team is set to conclude its non-conference schedule with a home game against James Madison on Thursday. The matchup, marking head coach Wes Moore's 1,100th career game, will tip off at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum and be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Fans are encouraged to wear holiday sweaters, and the first 500 attendees will receive an ornament.

NC State enters the game on a four-game winning streak and recently opened Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play with a decisive victory over Louisville at the Jimmy V Women's Classic, winning 72-42. This marked Louisville's lowest point total since 2010. NC State holds a challenging schedule ranking tenth in strength nationally and fifth among Power Four teams. They have secured at least one Quad 1 win this season and are ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll.

Key players for NC State include Aziaha James, who leads with an average of 16.2 points per game, and Saniya Rivers, leading in rebounds per game (6.5), blocks per game (1.1), and tying for most steals per game (1.5). Zoe Brooks shares the team lead in assists with James at 2.6 per game.

James Madison is considered a top mid-major program favored to win the Sun Belt Conference this year after finishing last season third in their conference standings with a record of 23-12. Peyton McDaniel was named Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year, averaging 14.5 points and eight rebounds per game this season.

The series between NC State and James Madison is tied at one win each; however, this will be NC State's first time hosting JMU.

In their previous outing against Louisville, NC State controlled the game from start to finish with notable performances from Zamareya Jones scoring a career-high of 18 points off the bench and Rivers achieving her second consecutive double-double.

Following Thursday's contest against James Madison, NC State will take over a week off before resuming ACC play by hosting Clemson on December 29th.
