The NC State volleyball team has seen three of its players earn Academic All-District honors, as announced by College Sport Communicators on Monday. This recognition marks the first time since 2016 that members of the Wolfpack have received this accolade.
Ava Brizard, Courtney Bryant, and Sophie Groom were the student-athletes honored for their achievements both academically and athletically. The award requires recipients to maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 and be at least sophomores in both academic and athletic standing.
Brizard, a junior outside hitter, participated in all 29 matches for the team, starting in 26. She recorded an average of 2.69 kills per set and accumulated 71 digs and 32 blocks over the season.
Bryant also played in all 29 matches with 27 starts. As a junior outside hitter, she averaged 2.47 kills per set and added an average of 2.28 digs per set along with achieving 25 service aces throughout the season.
Groom, who is in her first year with the Wolfpack, started in 25 matches before an injury sidelined her. The junior middle blocker maintained a .341 hitting efficiency while averaging 1.35 kills per set and contributing significantly to the team's defense with an average of 1.05 blocks per set.
