Governor Cooper appoints Douglas Green as Superior Court judge

Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced the appointment of Douglas Green as a Superior Court Judge in Judicial District 17, which serves Alamance County. This appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Tom Lambeth.

Governor Cooper expressed confidence in Green's capabilities, stating, “Judge Green’s has the experience and knowledge of the district to be a skilled Superior Court Judge.” He added his appreciation for Green's dedication to serving the community: “I am grateful for his commitment to continue serving the people of Alamance County.”

Green brings with him extensive experience from his current role as District Court Judge in District 17. His career also includes time as an Assistant Attorney General at the North Carolina Department of Justice. Prior to these roles, he practiced law with Smith Giles, PLLC and worked in the Alamance County District Attorney’s Office. Green holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, a Master of Business Administration from Elon University, and a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
