NC State women’s basketball concludes homestand against Davidson

NC State's women's basketball team is set to conclude a three-game homestand by facing Davidson at Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday night. The game, scheduled for 7 p.m., will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

The Wolfpack has achieved two consecutive victories for the first time this season, defeating No. 18 Ole Miss and Old Dominion University (ODU). Their win over Ole Miss marked their first ranked victory of the season and secured their second consecutive SEC/ACC Challenge title. NC State currently holds the toughest strength of schedule among Power 4 teams, ranking fifth nationally. They are also tied for 22nd in the AP Top 25 and hold the 24th spot in the WBCA Coaches Poll.

Aziaha James leads NC State with an average of 16.2 points per game. Saniya Rivers contributes significantly with rebounds, blocks, and steals, while Zoe Brooks leads in assists. The team excels in maintaining low foul counts and turnovers while ranking highly in defensive rebounds and three-pointers.

Davidson was projected to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll after concluding last season with an 18-8 record despite canceling their season due to injuries. Charlise Dunn earned recognition on the A-10 Preseason Team following her performance last year. Freshman Candice Lienafa currently leads Davidson with an average of 11.3 points per game.

Historically, NC State has dominated their series against Davidson, leading it 9-1 overall and maintaining a perfect home record against them.

In their most recent outing, NC State secured an emphatic win over ODU with a scoreline of 86-55 after overcoming an early deficit through strong runs in subsequent quarters.

Looking ahead, NC State will face Louisville on Sunday as part of the Jimmy V Women's Classic at KFC Yum! Center.
