Carolina Hurricanes recall Ty Smith from AHL's Chicago Wolves

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced the recall of defenseman Ty Smith from the Chicago Wolves, their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. The decision was made public by Eric Tulsky, the General Manager of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Carolina Hurricanes.

Smith, aged 24, has yet to participate in an NHL game this season. While with the Wolves, he accumulated seven points, including three goals and four assists, and maintained a plus-5 rating over seven games. Hailing from Lloydminster, Alberta, Smith spent his previous season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins where he recorded 43 points in 63 games. His career began after being selected by New Jersey as the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft. To date, Smith has played in 123 NHL games for both New Jersey and Pittsburgh, earning a total of 47 points.
