The NC State men's basketball team secured a victory over Florida State in their ACC opener with an 84-74 win in overtime at Lenovo Center. This result ended Florida State's NCAA record of 14 consecutive overtime wins.

Marcus Hill and Dontrez Styles were instrumental, scoring 13 of NC State's 14 points in the extra period. Hill initiated the overtime scoring with a lay-up, followed by Styles who made significant contributions including a three-pointer and a steal leading to another basket. Hill extended the lead further with a jumper, contributing to his season-high of 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting and making 8-of-10 free throws. Styles also achieved a season-high with 21 points, scoring most after halftime.

Jayden Taylor added to the effort with 14 points for NC State. The game saw several lead changes, particularly in the second half when Florida State briefly took control before NC State responded effectively.

Florida State's Jamir Watkins led his team with 24 points, making an impressive 16-of-17 from the foul line. Malique Ewin supported with 23 points and nine rebounds.

NC State showed strong ball control post-halftime, only turning over twice and achieving a notable advantage in points off turnovers (21-9). The team will next face Coppin State at Reynolds Coliseum on Tuesday as part of their annual Heritage Game.
