Provalus, an information technology outsourcing company, is set to open a Center of Excellence in Wilkes County, North Carolina. This move will create 150 jobs and involve an investment of $1.05 million in North Wilkesboro.
Governor Cooper expressed his support for the project, stating, “North Carolina offers exceptionally talented workers in all parts of our state, and it’s great to see a company like Provalus recognize this strength in Wilkes County.” He highlighted the state's education and workforce training systems as key factors that attract companies.
Founded in 2017 under the name Optomi, LLC, Provalus focuses on creating technology opportunities in rural areas. The new center will utilize existing office space to address client needs in cybersecurity, application development, and network operations.
Mike Keogh, President of Provalus, remarked on the significance of the expansion: “Establishing our second North Carolina Center of Excellence in North Wilkesboro is a meaningful step forward in our mission to create opportunities that revitalize rural American communities.”
Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders also welcomed the expansion: “Technology companies thrive in North Carolina, and I’m thrilled to see Provalus expand to Wilkes County.”
The average salary for these new positions will be $45,852. A performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund will provide $150,000 towards the project. This grant requires job creation and capital investment targets to be met before payment.
N.C. Senator Eddie Settle emphasized local support for Provalus: “Our community looks forward to helping Provalus’ leaders and workers establish this facility.”
Several organizations collaborated on this initiative including the North Carolina Department of Commerce and local government bodies.
