NC State women’s cross country secures eighth at NCAA Championships

The NC State women's cross-country team achieved an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships held at the Zimmer Championship Course on the University of Wisconsin campus. The event took place on a Saturday morning.

Leading the Wolfpack were Grace Hartman and Hannah Gapes. During the race, Gapes was in second place at the 1,000-meter mark, while Hartman was in 20th. By the 2,000-meter point, Hartman had moved up to between sixth and seventh positions and ultimately finished fifth with a time of 19:39.5. She was also noted as the first U.S. finisher in the race. Gapes finished closely behind in eighth place with a time of 19:42.7.

Both athletes earned All-American honors for finishing within the top 40.

Additional team members who competed included Brooke Rauber, Angelina Napoleon, Bethany Michalak, Kate Putman, and Ellie Shea—all completing their races under 22:02.5.

On the men's side, Brett Gardner participated as an individual qualifier for NC State and secured a 122nd-place finish with a time of 30:01.7.
