The North Carolina Republican Party has expressed approval of the General Assembly's decision to mandate additional Early Voting sites in Henderson County. This requirement will remain in effect until Saturday, November 2.
Henderson County, with over 92,000 registered voters, had previously been limited to a single Early Voting site. This limitation reportedly caused frustration among residents wishing to vote before the official election day on November 5.
The Henderson County Board of Elections encountered challenges due to incorrect guidance from the N.C. State Board of Elections. Although this guidance was later corrected, the Board did not approve new voting sites at that time. The recent action by the General Assembly addresses this oversight.
Both the NCGOP and RNC had earlier sent a letter urging the Henderson County Board of Elections to take action on this matter.
"The General Assembly has acted to ensure voters have more options to make their voices heard and we thank them for moving swiftly to address this issue," stated NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer.
