Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas contributed significantly to Czechia's victory over Switzerland in the 2024 IIHF World Championship Gold Medal Game. The tournament concluded on Sunday, with Czechia securing the gold medal.

Necas, aged 25, demonstrated remarkable performance throughout the championship by scoring seven points across five games. His standout performance included a four-point contribution in the team's win against Sweden, which secured their place in the final match. As a pending restricted free agent, Necas has drawn significant attention leading into what is anticipated to be an eventful summer for both him and his team.

During the regular season, Necas finished tied for fourth on Carolina's roster with 53 points over 77 games. In postseason play, he added four goals and five assists to his tally.

This victory marks Czechia's first gold medal at the IIHF World Championship since 2010.
