North Carolina's Attorney General, Josh Stein, announced a new law that mandates ticket sellers to display the total price of tickets upfront, including all fees. This legislation aims to prevent hidden fees from surprising consumers at checkout. The law is part of provision S607 and affects major ticket sellers such as Ticketmaster and SeatGeek.

Attorney General Stein collaborated with legislators to ensure transparency in ticket pricing for live events in North Carolina. "I was pleased to work with legislators of both parties to protect people’s money and help them make informed decisions about their purchases," said Stein. He also expressed gratitude towards ticket sellers for cooperating in creating a fairer market.

Rhiannon Giddens, a Grammy Award-winning musician, supported the move, stating: “We need to have clarity in all economic practices, and concert ticket sales are no exception.” She praised the state for requiring full price disclosure from the start.

The practice of hiding fees has been a longstanding issue in the industry. Consumers often encounter higher prices at checkout due to undisclosed fees. Now, sellers must disclose each fee's existence and amount before completing transactions. Violations will be treated as unfair trade practices by the Attorney General’s Office.

Joe Freeman from SeatGeek expressed support for the legislation: “We strongly support the North Carolina legislature and Attorney General Stein’s leadership in championing all-in pricing legislation." He emphasized that this reform enhances transparency for consumers purchasing tickets.
