Tonight, Governor Roy Cooper delivered remarks at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, preceding Vice President Kamala Harris's acceptance of the Democratic nomination for President.

Governor Cooper began his speech by highlighting his personal experiences with Vice President Harris during their tenure as Attorneys General. He recounted a significant event from 2011 when many American homeowners faced illegal foreclosures. Cooper noted that while he was serving as Attorney General in North Carolina, Harris had just assumed the same role in California.

"All the AGs were close to a settlement with the big banks," Cooper said. "And it was a pretty good deal. Would have meant $4 billion for California families who’d been ripped off."

However, Harris believed that more could be achieved for these families. "Kamala said: hang on a minute. I’ve met with these families. I know what they’ve been through. And they. Deserve. MORE," Cooper recalled.

Harris took a stand against powerful banking executives and succeeded in securing $20 billion for affected California families, instead of the initial $4 billion proposed.

Cooper emphasized Harris's leadership qualities and her commitment to fighting for what she believes is right. "That was the first time I witnessed Kamala in action," he stated. "And what I saw was a LEADER who does EXACTLY what she says she’s going to do."

He further assured the audience that Harris would continue to fight for various causes if elected President, including better healthcare, safer living conditions, improved education systems, secure retirements, and strong international alliances.

"Even if you don’t agree with her on everything, Kamala Harris will fight for YOU to the very end," Cooper asserted.

The Governor concluded his speech by rallying support from several key states and encouraging Americans to stand up, fight, vote, and ultimately win alongside Kamala Harris.
