Raleigh Awards $10M in ARPA funds to Community Health Initiatives

Community health

Through an RFP process, the City selected 13 non-profit organizations to assist with community health issues. This funding will:

  • Build or renovate facilities to increase capacity.
  • Increase opportunities for non-profits to help more people through prevention activities and lessen the impacts of COVID-19.
  • Address behavioral health, mental health, and other pandemic-related health issues.

  1. WakeMed to receive $1,827,611 to renovate, upgrade and outfit a recently-acquired property and its landscaping in a trauma-informed design to help support the Wake Med Health & Hospitals Center for Community Health.
  2. Haven House to receive $1,225,000 to renovate a 14,000 sq. ft building in Raleigh for multiple uses including a permanent pantry and a boxing/exercise facility.
  3. Passage Home to receive $1,113,250 to purchase property for affordable housing through the 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program.
  4. SAFEchild to receive $1,000,000 in funding for a new 18,000+ sq. ft building on Kidd Road in Raleigh.
  5. TLC to receive $1,000,000 to build a new facility to help medically fragile individuals. 
  6. SouthLight to receive $950,000 to update the Garner Road Treatment Center.
  7. Emmaus House to receive $653,361 to purchase a multi-family home within 20 miles of downtown Raleigh to house men in recovery.
  8. DHIC to receive $610,000 to complete asbestos abatement and building demolition to make way for a new affordable housing development.
  9. Ship Outreach to receive $538,947 to upfit the Ship Outreach transitional housing and education center.
  10. Healing Transitions to receive $504,950 to improve heating, ventilation, and air conditioning at both the men’s and women’s facilities.
  11. Triangle Family Services to receive $394,169 for major renovations to the Critical Community Care building. 
  12. Salvation Army to receive $120,000 to renovate the current space to provide additional single room occupancy shelter spaces for families experiencing homelessness.
  13. SPCA Wake County to receive $62,712 to construct a new facility to transform lives of pets and people through adoption.
