Wake County recently issued the following announcement.
If you live, work or play in the Lower Swift Creek community – located in the eastern part of the county bordering Johnston County and southeast of the Town of Garner – planners want your input to help shape future growth and development in the area.
They’re asking for feedback as they develop the Lower Swift Creek Area Plan, which will guide decisions about the community’s “built environment” – the homes, buildings, streets, open spaces and infrastructure.
The Lower Swift Creek plan is one of six being developed or updated as part of the implementation of the county’s new comprehensive plan, PLANWake. Adopted in April 2021, PLANWake charts a course to guide growth over the next 10 years.
“As we begin to put PLANWake into action, we need to understand how residents want to see their community develop and hear any concerns they may have,” said Sig Hutchinson, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners. “Only insight and input from those who live, work and play in a community can create a plan that reflects their vision for the future.”
Over the next two months, residents will have opportunities to provide vital feedback, which will be integrated into the new plan. There are several ways to play an active role in this process:
- Complete a survey, share your ideas on a map, collaborate with your neighbors and sign up for updates here;
- Attend a virtual public meeting at 7 p.m. April 7 (sign-up information will be available here); or
- Contact planners directly at areaplan@wakegov.com or 919-856-6310 (option 8).
The remaining five plans, covering the Eastern Watershed, Falls Lake, Middle Creek, Neuse Basin and Western Wake areas, will go through the same process over the next two years. Updates will be posted here.
