City of Raleigh recently issued the following announcement.
Downtown Raleigh Alliance, in collaboration with City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, announces Flannels & Frost: Winter Games at Moore Square on Saturday, February 19, from 2pm - 6pm, with an outdoor showing of 'Cool Runnings' at 6:15 pm to cap off the event. This free event will celebrate the exciting parts of winter, encouraging families and friends to pull on their boots, don their flannel, and get outside to play regardless of the weather!
In celebration of the 2022 Winter Olympics, the program will feature Olympic themed activity challenges for kids to earn beads; complete all five to make a fun Olympics themed bracelet.
Watch live chainsaw wood carving demos, try your hand at Curling or inflatable axe throwing. Or, huddle into the Igloo Tent Book Nook, check out our Instagram-able moments, shop our sweets and treats market, and create wintery arts and crafts. And of course, eat sweet treats and sip hot chocolate! (Or choose beer or mulled wine, for the grown-ups.) There's something for everyone.
"We wanted to offer families the magic of a winter experience within Downtown Raleigh," said Kathleen Louis, Vice President of Engagement and Business Development Manager for Downtown Raleigh Alliance. "Our goal is to beat February cabin fever with a fun event with many downtown partners in Moore Square."
"Moore Square is excited to work with Downtown Raleigh Alliance to activate the park in the winter," said Jenna Kostka, Moore Square Director. "This can't-miss free event will be an amazing experience for all ages!"
Flannels & Frost couldn't happen without the partnership of local Raleigh businesses and organizations. We are proud to work with Empire Eats/Square Burger, Raleigh Convention Center, and Artspace, with more to be announced in the coming weeks!
We hope to see you on Saturday, February 19, at Moore Square!
